technology Users

We invite you to consider membership in Technology First.  We offer many ways to connect with other IT professionals, business partners and employees.  We are an industry trade association and economic development agency working to support the adoption of information technology in the 12-county Dayton region.

We support the information technology community in the Dayton region through several workforce and business development services including:

The Dayton CIO Council

  • By invitation only, IT leaders meet monthly to convene in a non-competitive environment for valuable peer-to-peer networking, relationship building and learning.
  • The Council provides the opportunity to discuss common problems, explore new technologies and to identify best practices to implement within their own organizations to aid in lowering costs, increasing productivity and growing revenue.

Employment Exchange
  • Members can post full-time, part-time, intern or contractor IT jobs and search the resume database on our website, www.technologyfirst.org.  The site averages 2,000 views weekly.
  • A weekly email is sent highlighting new postings and new postings are also listed in our monthly magazine which is distributed to 4,000 people.
  • The February Digital Mixer networking event and McKenna scholarships can connect you with interns and upcoming college graduates.

Training Exchange
  • The Training Exchange surveys the business community to forecast, aggregate and deliver just-in-time business and technical training.  Many times the retail cost of training is reduced -- plus travel outside the region is no longer required!
  • Curriculum input through participation in the training advisory council or on college advisory groups.

Tech Source
  • Use of the online IT Resource Finder where an anonymous search will retrieve a list of IT suppliers based on your product, service, or solution needs.
  • Tech Source includes profiles of over 100 local IT suppliers for local companies looking for partners to meet their IT needs.

Networking
  • Discounted rates on monthly networking events that provide the latest business and technology information.
  • Speaking opportunities and sponsorships to increase awareness of your company.

Communication
  • Articles by subject matter experts are contributed to Technology First, our monthly magazine, which is distributed monthly to 4,000 professionals.
  • A weekly email sent to 3,000 people that highlights local IT events, news, and job openings.
  • Over 30,000 unique visitors viewed our website to access services or news.

Feedback from Dayton IT management and staff on benefits gained from participating in our organization includes:
  • Developing a network of peers to call and discuss common IT issues.
  • Having a source of unbiased supplier referrals from peers and the Tech Source staff.
  • Influencing the curriculum of local universities by participating in periodic reviews of the MIS and CS curriculums.
  • Participating in the IT community through public speaking opportunities at Technology First events.
  • Having an opportunity to influence the economic direction of IT in the Dayton market by participation on committees and advisory groups.

If you are interested in membership or volunteering we would be glad to set up a meeting to discuss how our organization can support the development of your IT professionals and the awareness of your business in the Dayton region.
