OISC '07 - The Ohio Information Security Conference

February 2007

The Ohio Information Security Conference is a two day multi-track technical conference targeted to business owners, managers, and security professionals who have a vested interest in protecting their company’s information and communication systems.  The conference which is being hosted by the Greater Dayton IT Alliance in collaboration with the Dayton Chapter of the ISSA, the Western Ohio Information Security Forum, Infragard, TechColumbus, Platform Lab, and the Contingency Planners of Ohio, will be held on March 13 and 14 at Sinclair Community College.

The technical program will consist of a variety of speakers and presentations with topics of interest for just about everyone.  While Tim Sanderson, an instructor at Edison Community College will present, “Practical Information Security for the Small Office” for the small business IT manager, the conference will also offer “Security Compliance & Network Access Control of Endpoints,” which is one of the hottest security areas of interest today by Timothy Kiggins, a program manager for NCR Corporation.

With the low price, ease of use, and near ubiquity of USB drives, they have become a real risk to corporate America. During the session titled, “You can do THAT with a USB? - USB drive hacking and how to protect yourself and your organization,” Mr. Maslowski-Yerges, an accomplished IT professional with over 10 years of experience in IT security and knowledge of a vast array of security products, will discuss the risks and propose some solutions.

Insight into casino security, case studies on computer forensics and identity management as well as a discussion on wireless network security are just of few of the numerous tracks offered.

This third annual conference has been organized by local information security professionals to share emerging trends and focus on proven solutions.  They are certain this event will provide a networking environment to meet and learn from professionals around the state who share similar challenges and requirements.   We encourage you to check it out, register, and attend!
