The American Guild of ENglish Handbell Ringers Hits the Right Note

June 2008

Jenny Cauhorn, Executive Director for The American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR) shares her experience using Tech Source to locate an IT partner:

GDITA:  Could you tell us about AGEHR?

Jenny:  9,000 member organizations representing 100,000 ringers.  The national office has been headquartered in Dayton since 1981. Waiting on a paragraph, logo and list of Dayton members from AGEHR.

GDITA:  Could you describe your IT need?
Jenny:  We were in a development project to create an online event registration capability on our website to allow members to register for events and classes via the web instead of faxing in registrations.  The system needed to be working in time for our annual festival in Orlando in August to support 1,000 attendees from 10 countries.   We had an emergency as we needed to find a local developer quickly to finish the custom software so the project would meet our June deadline.

GDITA:  Did you have specific criteria in selecting an IT partner?
Jenny:   As we are based in Centerville, we wanted a local company with the correct skill set who could act with a sense of urgency to step in and finish the work.  We also wanted a company with multiple resources and not an independent contractor.

GDITA:  How did you go about finding an IT partner to meet your need?
Jenny:  We were asking for company names from people that we knew when one of our staff members read about the Greater Dayton IT Alliance in a newspaper article.  I went to the GDITA website and read about Tech Source.  I used the Tech Source to search for Centerville companies and retrieved a list of companies.  After looking at the company profiles, I contacted companies of interest and selected Extreme Consulting.  We are very pleased with Extreme Consulting as they are very collaborative in their approach and enabled us to meet our deadline for our members.

GDITA:   Do you have any comments from your search experience using Tech Source that you would share with other companies looking for IT partners?

Jenny:  Tech Source was very easy to use and I would use it again for future IT needs.
