United Way’s Volunteer Connection named Andy Hickey, Manager of Member Services for Technology First as Community Volunteer of the Month for September. As an active volunteer for Generation Dayton since the organization’s inception in 2006, Andy joined the organization’s steering committee as the programming chair in January 2008. He leads a team of members who plan professional development events throughout the year for local young professionals.
Andy volunteers regularly through Generation Dayton but most recently he assisted with the Mudstock mud volleyball tournament to benefit Epilepsy Foundation of Western Ohio. He also volunteers through his parish — St. Anthony’s Church. He lives in Dayton with his wife Becky and their two children, Clare and Jameson.
“I volunteer for Generation Dayton because its mission is critical to the region’s future. We have to keep our generation in the region if we are to have any future,” says Andy. “People should volunteer because they are members of the community — it’s not THE Dayton Region. It’s OUR Dayton Region.”
Stephanie Yenn, training and development manager for the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce says “as a member of Generation Dayton and now as a leader of the organization, Andy has gone above and beyond his volunteer duties to ensure the growth and success of this organization. We appreciate Andy’s time and dedication to Generation Dayton.”
Congratulations to a member of our Technolgy First team!
