Midmark Hosts Dayton CIO Council Meeting

November 2008

Midmark Corporation recently hosted the monthly Dayton CIO Council meeting. Approximately 25 members of the council convened at Midmark’s corporate conference center near Versailles, Ohio. The Dayton CIO Council serves as a forum for area information technology (IT) leaders to convene in a non-competitive environment for valuable peer-to-peer networking, relationship building and learning. The meetings provide area CIOs with the opportunity to discuss common problems, explore new technologies and to identify best practices to implement within their own organizations to aid in lowering costs, increasing productivity and growing revenue.

Council members chose Midmark’s facilities to enable them to step away from daily distractions in order to dedicate an uninterrupted period of time focusing on learning and professional development. The trip to Versailles also offered the opportunity to learn more about the history, culture and products of Midmark and allowed the group to have a more in-depth meeting. The three main topics covered at this meeting were:

•    Connecting with executives: communicating IT department services to your executive team
•    Positioning IT for the future: alignment and staffing
•    PC subgroup summary: update on the progress of a subgroup of the council focused on PC and related peripheral device support issues

“The Dayton CIO Council had been periodically meeting at various participating company sites,” commented Steve Hangen, CIO of WinWholesale. “Since Midmark has consistently been a key participant in the Dayton CIO Council meetings, we asked the CIOs for their interest in having the meeting a Midmark’s facilities in Versailles and received a very positive response.”

Vice President of Information Technology at Midmark John Huelsman, commented, “It was truly a pleasure to have so many Dayton CIO Council members travel to Midmark for the meeting. The topics resonated with the attendees as informative discussions took place and ideas and experiences were shared freely.”

Representatives from companies and institutions such as the Dayton Community Blood Center, Dayton Progress, Mike-sell’s®, Motoman, NCR, NewPage, Miller-Valentine, WinWholesale, Sinclair Community College and Cedarville University attended the meeting, making this assembly one of the most well attended Dayton CIO Council meetings.
