    The Core Systems Developer I is responsible for completing software development activities for both new projects and maintenance work requests from end-users for various enterprise and Line of Business (LOB) specific business applications. This position requires using SSDLC practices for development and standard Source Control software for software change control. In addition, this role is responsible for the day-to-day application support associated with those applications, including but not limited to, addressing end-user questions related to application functionality. 

    Application Development (60%) 

      Production Support (30%)

    Required Skills

     This position must possess a working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle concepts (e.g. analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation).  The following are also required:

    1)      A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.  Candidates who present an equivalent combination of other formal training (e.g.  Associates Degree) and minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible computer programming experience may also be considered.

    2)      A minimum of 2 years of experience with Windows-based hardware and software.

    3)      Ability to work on multiple efforts at the same time and consistently meet deadlines.

    4)      Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    The Sinclair Information Security Engineer works under the direction of the Chief Information Security Officer with minimal supervision to support and implement Sinclair’s campus-wide information security program, focusing on technical and operational components. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing security policies, standards, and practices, as well as providing strategic and tactical input on security technologies. Key duties include conducting risk analyses, forensic investigations, audits, and threat assessments; evaluating and deploying security-related technologies; and supporting effective security awareness initiatives. The engineer also plays an active role on Sinclair’s IT Security Operations Team, Vulnerability Assessment Team, and the Computer Security Incident Response Team (SCC CSIRT), contributing to the overall resilience of the college’s information systems.

    The selected candidate must reside in the State of Ohio to be eligible.

    Principal Accountabilities
    • Researches, designs, and implements appropriate security technologies and controls for protection and monitoring of the College technology infrastructure, on premise and hosted (cloud)
    • Lead responsibility for designing appropriate security controls and structure for Sinclair’s cloud environment, including identity & access management, asset protection, logging and monitoring
    • Works closely with the systems, network, operations, and application staff on the identification and implementation of appropriate security procedures, software, and hardware
    • Routinely conducts and analyzes security scans (i.e. vulnerability, penetration) of information systems resources. Works with other IT staff to investigate and implement vulnerability and exploit mitigation controls and technologies
    • Assists CISO with risk management, including investigations of systems and network security incidents, documentation, and maintenance of risk register and security program tools
    • Facilitates development and execution of security policies, procedures, and awareness programs, as well as documentation of effective practices for securing systems and appropriate response to suspected compromise
    • Assists with technology-related activities related to e-discovery, litigation hold, and other legal requests and response
    • Networks with security professionals and colleagues at other higher education institutions, the local community, and in industry regarding broad information security issues and trends
    • Performs other cybersecurity/information assurance-related activities as required

    Requirements

    • Minimum of an associate’s degree with 4 years of experience OR bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience required
      • Expertise is developed via experience and continuing education, and skill-sets are maintained by self-motivation and life-long learning activities
    • Knowledge and experience derived from a background in information systems management and understanding of the skills required at highly technical levels required
    • Strong experience in implementing security controls and technologies in cloud-based and virtual environments required

    • Verifies dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specification using precision measuring instruments including, but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, hardness testers, profilometers, and electronic voltmeters.
    • Aligns, fits, and assembles component parts, using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and templates.
    • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures executing gage R/R (MSA’s).
    • Performs setups, programming, and operation of coordinate measuring machines or equivalent machines.
    • Provides training and assistance to staff on coordinate measuring machines (or equivalent).
    • Provides direction for the quality technicians regarding inspection best practices, technical development, and general process improvements.
    • Works with product development to develop inspection plans on new products prior to launch.
    • Inspects and releases finished product (finished devices, sub-assemblies, and components) upon ensuring that the acceptance criteria was met.
    • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performances, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
    • Prepares graphs, charts of data, or enters data into computer for analysis.
    • Performs and or controls the calibration of test equipment.
    • Performs fixture and tooling validation.
    • Sets up quality module for identified measurements per the inspection plans.

     

    SECONDARY DUTIES:

    • Inspects parts and products returned after distribution to the field.
    • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
    • Supports ERP system transactions to support returned goods, incoming inspection, and shipping/receiving.
    • Assists in disposition of MRB and FAI parts.
    • Evaluates device history records.
    • Performs in process audits to verify process control.
    • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.

     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and at least 5 years of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. ASQ certifications preferred.

     

    COMPETENCY and/or SKILL:

    • CMM knowledge preferred
    • Experience with an ERP system
